I have several pochade boxes; portable oil-painting boxes in which there is accommodation for paints, palette, brushes, medium and boards. They open up to transform into their own ‘easel’ and the finished boards store in such a way that they don’t smudge eachother. This brings a particular excitement, a direct response to the landscape which can be very immediate to the viewer. They are often painted quite quickly – and many of them have to be thrown away – it’s only the ones that catch the moment that you will see here!
